10:21 am - Me lerned to talk good
|
In moving offices, I found this old cover letter from when we were trying to hire an executive assistant for our department head... I am just so greatful for the education I recieved. I copied this ver batem:
Dear Human Resources Director,
In reference to your advertisement for (Hand written "Execu. Admin. Asst. 1")
For the past several years, I have worked in various companies in the area of Customer Service enquiries and sales, I have also worked as an recruiter for a company of over 900 people. At that point I have been a generalist in an union organization, I had to deal with conflict resolution, implementation of policies and procedures, to help build and look at creating sales environment for section of customer service to customers who never came into a branch, I was selected to be team leader. I have had to juggle conflicting issues and handle multiple projects. I have also worked in collections, financial environment, setup offices and support staff, I worked as my own small business owner, I persently sit on executive board where I have learned techniques and call center. I am also an administrator, report preparation, scheduling, arranging travel, preparation for meetings and setting up conference's. I have a diversified background because each job I had was not always what the job description said there was always a shortage of staff and I had to learn and assist in the job until appropriate staff was recruited.
As a customer Account Executive or as an Recruiter or desirable position best suits my skills and qualifications I will contine to excel in proper office management, account building and rebuilding and seeking the customer interest, remembering that customers who understand the product and need a product will always stick with it once it is constantly being renewed and building upon to make life easier for them. I am computer literate, but I also have an ability to teach, train and counsel others to help them enhance their growth, development and encouragement to do a good job no matter what, thus allowing them to become more productive.
I would welcome the opportunity to become a Team Member. Thank you and I am looking forward to your correspondence.
Respectfully, I can't write to save my life.

so, my head is 18.2% fat. does this mean i have a fat head?
i know you are probably thinking to yourself right now "how the heck does she know how much fat is in her head?" the answer: i volunteer for medical studies and one i happened to do (which garnered me $100, tax-free mind you) a DXA scan. it is a body composition thing. so yeah. i also learned i have more fat in my left arm than my right, and that my legs are equally padded. overall 26.2% total body. the normal range for healthy women is 17-27, so i think im going to have to cut back on the sweets a bit (yeah, right). i just thought it was interesting. if i had a scanner, you would all get to see the funny skeleton picture of me that i got with the print-out.
this was an exciting entry.
merry christmas, everyone.

12:38 pm - so this is normal?
|
just thought this would be a funny thing to relay.... i am in a computer lab on campus, the PG2 (Parking Garage 2) lab to be precise. it is a fairly spacious lab with many terminals. at this time of day, however, it is somewhat busy. so, in an attempt to find an available machine, i came upon the one i am currently using. the reason it was available (by my estimation) is because the monitor is displaying things upside-down. the mouse is backwards, too, as down is up and up is down, left is right and vice versa. so, i am typing from bottom to top and reading from right to left. it is all very normal. im surprised im not getting more strange looks from people, because thy all must know that this is the wierd computer and why they did not choose it in the first place. HA.
the end.
ill update more later, as mucho things have happened since my last post forever ago.

so we had a good meet this weekend. drove down to UNC and had a pretty good time...i didnt do as poorly as i had expected to in my events seeing as how i have not been in the water for a practice yet this semester. i went a 28.9 on my 50 free, 31.something on 50 fly, and 114.something for the 100IM. so not great times by any means, but still not too horrible :)
the ride there was not so fun. took us 3.5 hours to get to Paramount's King's Dominion (a trip that would usually take 1.5) traffic was HORRIBLE. it alwasy seems that whenever we go down to North Carolina for a meet that it rains when we are going down or coming back, or both. it rained on the way there but not on the way back this time. nice ride bac,. thanks to ron we made it back in just under 4 hours. we hit 115 in a minivan at one point, but only because he did not realize we were going that fast. we almost got nailed by a tour bus on the way down...the jerk decided to start to switch lanes when i was right next to him. he didnt look and i had to lay on the horn. then he got all mad and flashed his lights and honked at me when i got in front of him. what a jerk. i hate otehr drivers. he should have looked. and then on the way back the same thing pretty much happened, cept it was a semi and he just plane didnt look when he decided the car that was in front of him (which he was no joke, 6-10 feet behind) was going too slow and tried to switch lanes. fun fun fun on the highway :)
nothing wlse really new with me other than that. today we are doing birthday observed at mom and dad's for me and michael. beef stroganoff for dinner.. mmmmm :) i am still looking for a job, so if you got anything for me, i would like some help :( in the not-too distant future is 1) easter next weekend, 2)UMD club swim home meet the weekend after that, 3) my SCUBA class certification dive at http://www.willowspringpark.com, the quarry, not the link :p i also have a bunch of tests coming up, but at least they are kinda spread out, and thats good.
also, in other news...i am getting a new-to-me car to replace my little saturn :( its a '92 Ford Escort Station wagon. yes, i said station wagon. its a manual 5-speed and it has 47k miles on it. apparently it was sitting in a barn for the last 5 years and it was inherited by the guy thats selling it after his father died. its at my mechanic's right now and has had a lot of work done...new alternator, starter, radiator, battery, spark plugs, wires, tires, and possibly new fuel injector (needed to find out why it was misfiring) so hopefully everything that could have gone bad as a result of it sitting will have already been taken care of :) and for $1,300 cash, its a really good deal.
blah. well thats all for now, i have to go to work for a couple hours, and then im going to run so i can pretend im training for my triathalon that is in less than a month... oh yeah, anyone want to sponsor me? :) if i raise $175 they give me my entry fee back... :p

sooooooo its ufnny because i have this really bad case of the hiccups. not funny about the hiccups cause they are the almost painful kind and are extremely annoying, but funny because of what im about to tell you. see, my rabbit hates it when i make unexpected noises...when i laugh out loud (lol) or something like that...he gets mad, like i said, and he kicks the floor. or the wall. or whatever. he makes it known that i have upset him. so the funny thing is i have these hiccups...and they are loud. and every time i hiccup it makes my rabbit angry and he kicks the floor.
isnt that funny?
ok, time for bed.

so, we are nearing the end of the semester. i know i havent updated in a long time, but there has been a lot that has happened. i wish i could remember everything, or have the patience to take the time to put it all down...but i think that would bore you.
thanksgiving was awesome, so much fun. my cousins are so much more talkative now than they used to be, and it is really nice to have conversations with them! my aund aleta made a superb dinner as usual (a 27 pound turkey with all the trimmings) and it was just really enjoyable.
the break in general was awesome because for once i didnt have any assignments to do. nothing. well, i could have studied a bit, but who cares:p it was just nice to not have to worry about anything.
the friday after thanksgiving was funny because i havent laughed as hard as i did that night at dinner in a long time. i was actually crying. i love my family so much. spending time with them is never bad and always enjoyable and awesome!
ok...ill have to write more later cause i really have to go to class :)
